Re: Joannie Visiting
St. Mary's Elementary School
   Aylesford Nova Scotia
I teach grade four at St. Mary's school in Aylesford, Nova
Scotia. We are a small rural community of approximately 2000 residents.

Joannie came to our school, St. Mary's Elementary this morning at 11:30
am and gave a wonderful message  of  following  your dreams, heroes and
the importance of an education. She also spoke of the need for research
into neuromuscular research.

St. Mary's school has always been supporters of research and  although
we are small in numbers we have contributed greatly over the years to
the Terry Fox Run. Joannie spoke to us about the fact that Terry is her
hero and the 350 children that crowded into our small multipurpose room,
were very attentive to her message. Our choir sang two songs for Joannie to
encourage her and to see her on her way.

The temperature was about 9C today as the whole school lined the
driveway to wave good-bye and to wish her a successful passage on her
way to Digby. Mr. André Tessier our principal wished her well and
expressed our good wishes as  she continues on her trip across Canada.

We wish Joannie Cowie well on  her Canada Cares Tour and we hope that
she  is successful in raising the much needed funds and also attention
to this worthwhile research and scholarship fund.

Sincerely,
Gloria Armstrong
